SALISBURY — Robert “Bobby” Burleyson, deputy chief at South Salisbury Fire Department, was awarded the Rufus H. Honeycutt Jr. Medical Responder of the Year award Saturday.
The award is given out once a year during the National EMS Week. It recognizes a Rowan County medical responder who has made a significant contribution to the county’s EMS system over the previous year.
Burleyson and his family attended the award ceremony Saturday at Dan Nicholas Park.
The plaque is awarded based on a peer review process.
