Corbin Elliott earns Eagle
Corbin Alexander Elliott, 14, of Gold Hill, is receiving his Eagle Scout Award today, July 1, 2012, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony. Scoutmaster Michael Rowell of Troop 333, which is sponsored by St. Matthew’s, is presenting the award.
Since joining Scouts in 2008, Corbin has earned 29 merit badges. As a Boy Scout, he has held positions of Quartermaster, Scribe, Assistant Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.
For his Eagle project, Corbin chose a beautification project at his former elementary school, Morgan Elementary. He and others removed old, dead bushes and prepared the ground where crape myrtle trees, Nandina bushes and running juniper were planted. The area was mulched for completion.
The son of John and Rhonda Elliott of Gold Hill, Corbin is a rising freshman at East Rowan High School. While at Erwin Middle School, he was a member of the football team, basketball team, Honors Chorus and the National Junior Honor Society.
