Public speaking workshop
The People Growing Together Toastmasters is presenting a four-week workshop on developing public speaking and leadership skills.
Four one-hour speaking/ leadership workshops will be held on July 5, 12, 19 and 26. Meetings will begin exactly at 5:30 and will be finished promptly at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for all four sessions.
National research has shown that the fear of speaking in front of a group of people is a greater fear than the fear of dying.
Toastmasters International has been providing a positive and encouraging environment for people to develop their speaking skills since 1924. Recent changes in the Toastmasters International program now emphasize the leadership aspects as well as continuing the focus on communication skills.
Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. Pre-registration is due by Tuesday, July 3. Contact Tim Edwards at thedwards@windstream.net or call 704-431-9390. Your $20 check payable to Toastmasters may be turned in at first meeting.
This is a special summer edition open for anyone, but especially for the Rowan County Teachers of the Year.
The PGT Toastmasters club meetings are at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays at JF Hurley YMCA, 828 Jake Alexander Blvd W. Enter at the main entrance and ask the receptionist to direct you to the Boardroom for Toastmasters meeting.
