SALISBURY — Police arrested a second man accused of robbing a woman in her home at gunpoint while her 2-year-old child was in the room.
Darius O’Bryan Abel, of Harrel Court, was charged with felony first-degree burglary and felony robbery with a firearm or other dangerous weapon Tuesday morning, a Salisbury Police report said.
The 22-year-old was arrested at his Harrel Court home about 11 a.m.
Police arrested Kenis Allen, 19, of Butler Street, on the same charges June 7 after Allen turned himself in at the Salisbury Police Department.
Officers obtained warrants for Allen’s arrest shortly after the June 1 home invasion.
According to arrest reports, Allen and Abel broke into a home on Harrel Street and forced a 21-year-old woman onto the floor.
One of the men then began hitting her in the face with a pistol, police said, while the other robber searched the home.
The woman’s 2-year-old child was asleep on a mattress in the same room, officers said.
The child was not harmed during the incident, police said. The child’s mother was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center. She was treated and released.
Detectives quickly obtained warrants for Allen following the robbery. Warrants for Abel were obtained on June 25, records show.
Allen and Abel were both in jail Wednesday morning under $250,000 and $500,000 bonds.
