SALISBURY — Police added six felony charges to a convicted sex offender jailed after authorities said he left the state without notifying deputies.
Robert Junior Gray, 58, was arrested in South Carolina in June after being on the run for nearly two years, according to an arrest report. He was charged with failure to notify authorities of an address change by a convicted sex offender.
On Monday, Salisbury Police also served outstanding warrants on three counts of felony indecent liberties with children and three counts of first-degree sex offense.
Gray spent about eight years in prison after he was convicted in 2001 of three counts of felony sex offense, a felony sex charge and felony second-degree rape.
He disappeared from Rowan County in 2010 and was on the original Rowan County Most Wanted list.
Gray was caught by the U.S. Marshal’s Service in Bamberg County, S.C., on June 21.
The 58-year-old was placed under a $250,000 bond, but was not listed on the Rowan County Detention Center online inmate list Tuesday morning.
