SALISBURY — Police say a Mocksville woman deposited forged checks and then withdrew money on the accounts.
Frances Belinda Dewalt, 26, of 909 Cherry Hill Road in Mocksville, faces charges including fraudulent deposit of money, receiving money improperly from a bank machine and receiving stolen goods and property, all felonies.
Salisbury police said Dewalt deposited nine forged checks written for a total of $2,600 and stolen from two victims into Wells Fargo bank accounts and then withdrew a total of $928.90. The incidents occurred between April 13 and 17, authorities said.
Dewalt, who also faces two counts of failure to appear in court, is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
