SALISBURY — A Salisbury woman posing as her daughter on social networking site Facebook was arrested after authorities said she was a sex offender forbidden to use a social website.
Marcia Sides Hess, 36, of Tammys Park Road, was charged with felony sex offender use of a social website.
Rowan County Sheriff’s officials received an anonymous tip that Hess had a Facebook account using the name of her daughter, said Capt. John Sifford.
Investigators were able to locate the account with pictures that resembled Hess.
A search warrant was issued to Facebook on July 12. Hess met with a deputy Monday and admitted to using a Facebook account in her daughter’s name.
Hess told an investigator she was using the account to play online poker.
She was issued a written promise to appear in court.
In 2005, Hess was convicted of rape, according to the N.C. sex offender registry.
