EAST SPENCER — Authorities charged a Mooresville man after they say he headbutted an officer and kicked another.
Aaron Logan Honeycutt, 22, of Charlotte Highway, was charged Saturday with two counts assault on a government official, resisting a public officer, intoxicated and disruptive, misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
According to an arrest warrant, Honeycutt appeared intoxicated while traveling in the 400 block of Heiligtown Road, East Spencer.
He fought with the officers by cursing, shouting and insulting others. He tried to run from officers when they ordered him to stop, the warrant said.
Honeycutt kicked East Spencer Officer E.P. Waters in the thigh with his foot as the officer tried to arrest him for suspicion of impaired driving.
Honeycutt headbutted East Spencer Officer D. Conrad, striking the officer on the chin at the time the officer was trying to place him in the car, the warrant said.
He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
