SALISBURY — An Elm Street woman told police a man rang her doorbell Monday afternoon shortly before a group of robbers tried to break into her home.
A Salisbury Police report said the woman didn’t answer the door when the man approached about 1:30 p.m.
But when he walked away, he followed alongside the home and jumped an 8-foot privacy fence near the backyard, along with three others.
The woman called police as the men repeatedly slammed into the metal door and tried to pry it open.
Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said the group fled the scene when they heard approaching sirens.
Officers located a group walking in the 1300-block of Boyden Road.
They were later identified as the four involved, an arrest report said.
Among the four, police said, was a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old boy.
The other two were identified as Tamarcus Canady, 19, of South Ellis Street, and Patrick Tutson, 21, of Buffalo Avenue in Concord.
Both were charged with felony attempted breaking and entering and misdemeanor first-degree trespassing.
Canady and Tutson remained in jail Tuesday under $5,000 bonds each.
The two juveniles were charged on juvenile referral.
Nothing was taken from the home, the report said.
