SALISBURY — An Albemarle woman was released on a written promise after authorities charged her with pointing a shotgun at her ex-husband’s neighbor.
According to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office report, Tammy Barbee Thompson, 53, was accused of pointing a Mossberg 12-gauge at Guandalupe Escobar Mendez, a neighbor of her ex-husband’s.
Thompson was at her ex-husband’s home on Bertie Avenue Sunday evening to discuss a family party, according to an arrest report. The man became aggravated by Mendez’s chickens, which were reportedly on his property, authorities said.
Mendez, 34, told deputies Thompson pointed the shotgun at her and her 9-year-old daughter.
Thompson told officers she pointed the shotgun at the chickens.
Deputies charged Thompson with misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.
She is scheduled to be in court on Sept. 12.
