Rowan County authorities will host two sessions this month to inform the public about the Metal Theft Prevention Act.
The law, which goes into effect Oct. 1, was created to help officers cut down on scrap metal theft.
Officers will host the first session at the Rowan County Courthouse on Wednesday. The second will be held at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in Landis on Aug. 28.
Both sessions will start at 6:30 p.m.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said a copy of the new law will be provided to those in attendance.
Anyone dealing in the scrap metal business is encouraged to attend.
Those unable to attend one of the two meetings who have questions about the new law can contact their local law enforcement agency.
