FAYETTEVILLE (AP) — Mitt Romney’s running mate is spending more time in North Carolina.
Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan extended his campaign swing in the state to a second day Thursday with a scheduled midday round-table discussion of defense industry issues in Fayetteville, home to Fort Bragg. Ryan visited Raleigh on Wednesday for a rally and a private fundraiser.
The chairman of the House budget committee is seeking to build momentum for the Romney-Ryan ticket in the days before the Republican National Convention in Florida, where they’ll accept the nomination for president and vice president.
North Carolina is considered a competitive state as President Barack Obama won the state’s 15 electoral votes in 2008 and will accept his party nomination in Charlotte after Labor Day.
