SALISBURY — Police are investigating two burglaries reported Wednesday on Third Street.
Officers said a homeowner contacted authorities about 11:15 a.m. The front door of a home in the 1700 block had been kicked in and jewelry was missing, police said.
According to an incident report, the residence was ransacked and authorities found items from drawers strewn throughout the home.
As police continued to monitor the area, a report said, a neighbor flagged down an officer. The woman told authorities when she got home from work she found that her front door had also been kicked in.
Investigators said the home was a similar scene and several drawers were left open.
A list of the stolen items was not immediately available Wednesday morning.
Police believe at least two people were involved in the two break-ins.
A neighbor told officers a white male, about 6 feet to 6-foot-2, wearing a gray shirt and jeans was seen near in the neighborhood about the time of the burglaries.
He was described as a medium- to large-build man and clean cut.
There was no description available for the second suspect.
Authorities said a white Ford pickup truck with a king cab was also seen near the home.
Police said the neighbor had not seen the pickup in the area previously.
