Convicted felon charged after wreck on scooter

CONCORD — A Kannapolis man was arrested after authorities said he was found beside a wrecked scooter with a case of beer and a laptop on Cline School Road.
According to a Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office press release, 44-year-old Alvin Dale Joyner also had a handgun in his possession. The report said his arms and hands were covered in blood.
Authorities said they learned a home on Gold Hill Road had been broken into earlier and a handgun and laptop were stolen.
Blood was found on a shattered front window.
After confirming the theft, the report said, Joyner, a convicted felon, was charged with driving while intoxicated, communicating threats, operating a motorcycle without a helmet, felony breaking and entering, felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony larceny of a firearm and felony larceny. He was placed in Cabarrus County jail under a $55,000 bond.
