SALISBURY – A gunman robbed a carhop at Sonic and attempted to rob two patrons before fleeing from the West Innes Street business Wednesday evening.
Salisbury Police said the suspect then fled to a red Toyota Corolla at a gas station across the street. He was last seen on traveling southeast on Institute Street.
Authorities were called to the fast food drive-in shortly before 9 p.m.
The two customers, who fled following the robbery, were brought back to the business by a Livingstone Police officer, reports said.
Salisbury Police said the gunman initially approached the two customers sitting at a table on the patio of the business. When an employee came out, the robber pointed the gun at her and demanded money.
Authorities said the suspect then grabbed cash from the employee’s apron. The report estimated the amount taken was about $60.
A second employee told officers she saw the man sprint across the street to the Toyota.
Witnesses described the man as between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall. He had a “very dark” complexion, a “very thin” build and was wearing a dark shirt and dark blue jeans, according to a report. Police said the man also was wearing a black and white scarf with a flower print. He is believed to be in his early 20s.
