SALISBURY – ?Cody Rives dreamed of one day feeding hungry children.
Though 16-year-old Rives and friend Ty Johnson died tragically in an auto accident Aug. 27, friends and fellow West Rowan High students made sure that dream was fulfilled.
The West Rowan “Crazies” student cheering section asked people attending the Aug. 31 West-Salisbury football game to bring canned goods in honor of Rives.
And many people responded. Cam Campbell, director of resource development and community relations for Rowan Helping Ministries, said donations totaled 1,604 pounds of food.
