SALISBURY – After chasing and catching a teenager Thursday, he tried to explain the digital camera in his pocket.
Salisbury Police stopped the boy, and later two others, as officers combed the area around Fairmont Avenue. Authorities said a home in the 900 block was broken into between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. But the camera didn’t belong to the homeowner. The device had pictures of another family on it, police said.
Hours later, homeowners on Wiley Avenue called officers when they discovered their home had also been broken into and a camera was missing.
Authorities said charges are pending against the 13-, 14- and 15-year-old. The three boys had been reported missing from a group home on West Fisher Street at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. They are expected to be charged with breaking and entering and larceny.
At the Fairmont Avenue home, officers said honey buns, oatmeal cookies and a case of beer was taken. “Goon Squad” was spray painted in black on the glass portion of a screen door, the report said.
Neighbors told police juveniles had been in the area and were throwing things in a nearby ditch. Authorities found an empty Coors Lite box and food wrappers in the area.
One of the teens was also found with black paint on his hands, police said.
