Shive Elementary School will host the inaugural Shive Shuffle 5K on Saturday morning. The event is open to runners and walkers. There will also be a fun run for kids, 12 and under. Shive Elementary is located at 655 Holshouser Road near Rockwell.
All participants will receive a commemorative dri-fit short sleeve shirt. Awards will be given to the top three overall male and females, and also to the top three in 14 age groups.
Proceeds will benefit the Killer Beez Shive Fitness Club. Race director April Spry said “Keeping our kids fit is important to the staff at Shive. We expect a good turnout from our students and parents for this great cause. We know that the course is one of the best in the county. It’s flat and has only 4 turns. Here is a chance for runners to find out just how fast they can run a measured 3.1 mile distance.”
Start time is 8:30 a.m. for the 5K and about 9:20 a.m. for the fun run.
Packet pickup and registration start at 7:30 a.m. Parking will be at the school.
