John and Vetra Drye Culp were honored by their families with a 50th anniversary celebration on Sept. 15, 2012, held at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Salisbury. Renewal of vows were conducted by Pastor Steve Holshouser, prior to the reception, and were witnessed by their immediate family.
The Culps were married at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Gold Hill on Sept. 16, 1962. They have two children, son Sheldon Culp of Mississippi and daughter Vanessa Houston of Virginia; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Culp are planning a trip to the northern states, which will include a site in Lancaster, Pa., gifted by their families.
