KANNAPOLIS – Police have identified a gunman who was shot by an officer on North Main Street as 46-year-old Allen Lee Jenkins.
Police said Jenkins was shot near his residence on North Main Street shortly after shooting 33-year-old Debra Tucker Dixon Sunday morning.
Authorities have not released the name of the officer involved, citing a pending review by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Dixon was shot about 2:30 a.m. in her home on Leazer Street.
She and Jenkins remain in critical condition. Dixon is at Carolinas Medical Center at NorthEast. Jenkins is at the Charlotte branch.
Dixon played a threatening voicemail apparently from Jenkins to neighbor Debbie Miller the day before the shooting, Miller said.
Dixon also filed a police report with the department, Miller said.
Dixon was living at the Leazer Street home with her boyfriend at the time.
The couple had been at the residence about six months.
No one has been charged in the shooting.
Police are still asking two motorists who passed the officer-involved shooting to contact the department.
Anyone having any additional information concerning this incident can call the Kannapolis Police Department at 704-920-4000 or Crime Stoppers at 704-93CRIME.
