SALISBURY — Investigators have arrested two men accused of kidnapping and trying to robbing two Salisbury men Monday.
Salisbury?Police charged Shawn Fredrick Kirkley, 25, of Fairson Avenue, with felony robbery with a firearm and two counts of felony kidnapping.
Marcus Chambers, 20, of Bringle Ferry Road, turned himself into the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office on Main Street for outstanding warrants Wednesday.
But Salisbury investigators had already obtained warrants in the robbery case for Chambers.
Jake Miller and Justin Hunter, both of Salisbury, picked up Chambers and Kirkley on a series of stops throughout the city Monday afternoon, police said.
When their vehicle stopped at a third house on South Clay Street, police said, a man approached with a gun and demanded money from Miller and Hunter.
Miller, the driver, said he didn’t have any but drove the men to Wilco-Hess on East Innes Street to get some from the ATM.
When they arrived, the report said, Miller and Hunter ran into the service station and told the clerk to call police.
The suspects fled on foot.
Salisbury Police said they are continuing the investigation and additional charges are pending.
Kirkley was in jail Thursday under $150,000 bond. Chambers was in jail under a $151,000 bond.
