Rowan County is a new addition to the 5th District, where U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx, a Republican, is defending her seat against challenger Elisabeth Motsinger, a physician’s assistant.
The northern third of Rowan County is in the 5th, which remains largely a Republican stronghold. But new district lines have added several areas to the district that lean Democratic, including areas in Forsyth County where Motsinger is well known as a member of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Board.
Foxx and Motsinger will outline their positions on voter ID laws, Iran, education the economy and other issues in Wednesday’s Psost.
