Two vehicles on Goodman Drive were broken into the same night and authorities believe the thief was the same person.
Tammy Ingram noticed her purse in a ditch as she was backing out of her driveway early Monday morning.
Ingram told Rowan County Sheriff’s Deputy B.C. Benfield she left her purse in her car the night before. Ingram said she usually never left her purse in her car, but had her arms full the night before and did not go back to the car for her purse.
Her purse had an MP3 player inside, a package of Sudafed cold medicine, $105 in cash and a pair of Oakley children’s sunglasses. She reported the incident at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Later the same day, Benfield spoke with Ingram’s neighbor, Bobby Black, who said he saw authorities at Ingram’s house earlier. But it wasn’t until 3:45 p.m. that Black checked his Dodge Dakota pickup in his yard and discovered his wallet was missing.
He’d left his wallet around 7 p.m. the night before in his truck, which was not locked. His wife’s vehicle was not locked, but had not been disturbed.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8668 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
