Raven Corbett, daughter of Rocky and Mary Beth Corbett, received two National Industrial Belting Association scholarships this year.
She is currently attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Raven will continue her education by completing dental school with a specialization in orthodontics.
“I want to host dental clinics and volunteer at clinics in the United States and in third-world countries to help provide dental care for those who cannot afford it or who do not have the means to receive it, while also having the opportunity to share God’s word with them,” she said.
Raven received NIBA’s association for awarding her both the NIBA memorial and presidential scholarships. The presidential scholarship is based on academic achievements, community involvement and experience in leadership roles. The memorial scholarship is based on community involvement and leadership skills.
“I was awarded the Memorial Scholarship based on my volunteer activities such as volunteering at the St. Mary’s Dental Clinic which provides dental care to those who cannot afford it, volunteering at Rowan Helping Ministries in the food shelter and with the Crisis Assistance Network, and serving with various other associations,” she said.
During high school, Raven served as president of Junior Civitans, chaplain of National Honor Society, a leader in Youth Commission International, and in other roles in other extra-curricular activities.
Rocky Corbett is a manager at the Salisbury home office of Industrial Supply Solutions Inc.
