?SALISBURY – Police arrested an 18-year-old Saturday after authorities said he punched an officer following a party.
Shakeil Dewon Roberson, of West Marsh Street, was taken into custody about 11:30 a.m. on Crosby Street.
Officers had been called to the party because of noise complaints, a police report said. A resident at the home asked officers to clear out the party-goers.
Authorities said Roberson didn’t want to leave and refused police instructions once outside the home.
When Salisbury Police Officer C.S. Hamm approached Roberson on the sidewalk, the 18-year-old struck him in the face with his fist, according to the report.
Police arrested Roberson and charged him with assault on a government official; resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer; and utterance to provoke violent retaliation.
Roberson remained in Rowan County jail Monday under a $3,500.
