For the third straight year, members of First Baptist Church in China Grove will celebrate the birth of Christ with its Meal of Hope. A traditional Christmas meal will be provided free of charge between from 3-7 p.m. on Christmas Day. Gift bags and music will offered in celebration and as well as a presentation on the powerful life of Jesus Christ. All activities will held in the church’s Family Life Center.
Again this year, church members are taking time on Christmas afternoon to offer the meal and companionship to those who can’t afford it and to those who are lonely or saddened during this time of year. Mark Honeycutt, chairman of the Meal of Hope committee, said, “We want to have friends and neighbors join us too. This outreach is a chance for us to give God the glory that he deserves.”
Last year, just over 200 meals were served. This year, First Baptist has a goal of at least 250 meals. Honeycutt emphasized,First Baptist Church is located at 302 Patterson Street in China Grove. Information or requests for the meals can be done by contacting the church office at 704-857-5415.
“Come join us,” added Honeycutt, “We look forward to the Meal of Hope each year.”
