SALISBURY — Authorities seized nearly $1.5 million in cash from a home near High Rock Lake as part of a drug investigation last week.
Investigators raided a home on Leisure Lane after tracking Joseph Chasteen, a suspect in the case, to the home, according to a search warrant obtained by the Post.
Chasteen told officers he had narcotics, firearms and a large amount of cash at the home, but would not let deputies inside.
After getting a warrant, authorities found an assault weapon, a .22-caliber revolver, a 9 mm Beretta, a .40-caliber Glock, ammunition and two sets of body armor.
No one has been charged, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said, but the investigation continues.
The cash was seized by a special agent from the Department of Homeland Security.
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, Mooresville Police, Huntersville Police, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Cornelius Police and Pineville Police also assisted in the investigation.
