SALISBURY — Authorities are looking into how two people walked out of the Faith Road Food Lion with a shopping cart filled with hundreds of dollars in groceries. A man and woman went to a register inside the store with two shopping carts. The cashier totaled all of the items, which came to more than $700. A woman pushed one of the carts out the door as the man stayed behind to pay, said Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
The man’s card was declined and he told the cashier his wife had another card that he would retrieve and return. The man left behind the other shopping cart and never returned to the store. The incident occurred Monday around 2 p.m. Police describe the suspect as a young white male who was wearing a red short-sleeve shirt, khaki shorts, with dark hair. The female appeared to be in her 30s with blond hair with a pink streak in the back. The cashier noted the man seemed young enough to be the woman’s son.
