Local authorities arrested a Salisbury man more than a week after he allegedly ran from Misenheimer Police following a weekend vehicle checkpoint near U.S. 52 that resulted in a car accident.
Demarcus Dawann Stalling, 26, whose address is listed as Hawkinstown Drive and Forest Winds Drive, was charged Monday with fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in property damage and resist, obstruct delay an officer, both misdemeanors.
A Misenheimer Police officer was conducting a license checkpoint on March 24. Stalling was a passenger in a vehicle that did not stop, he reported. The officer followed the vehicle that at some point became involved in an accident on U.S. 52 at Pfeiffer University, causing property damage, an arrest warrant said.
It is not clear how long the pursuit continued and what property was damaged.
Stalling was arrested Monday in Salisbury. Stalling was issued a $500 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center. According to the NC Department of Correction, Stalling is on probation for a December 2012 common law robbery conviction.
