Salisbury Police officers charged a man with drug trafficking at a Ferndale Drive home where they’d received complaints about drug activity.
Roderic Alexander Rowland, 22, of the 100 block of Ferndale Drive, was charged with felony trafficking heroin, possession of schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. The incident occurred Wednesday at 6:36 p.m.
When the door was opened, the officer could smell marijuana coming from the home. The father at the home told police he didn’t have any drugs there, a report said. The father gave officers permission to search the home.
A male in the home, who police later discovered was Roderic Rowland, was found in possession of two small bags of marijuana in his coat. Officers found 29.1 grams of heroin and 13 grams of marijuana in a backpack as well as a .32-caliber automatic handgun. He was issued a $250,000 secured bond and remains in the Rowan County jail. Rowland has been convicted of drug possession, breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.
