Authorities have added charges for a Mocksville man who they said intentionally gave them a wrong name during a traffic stop and hid pills on his body.
Dennis Monroe Alexander, 27, of Fonso Way, was charged April 5 with a number of drug possession offenses following the stop at South Long and East Bank streets. He told police his name was Brad Peck and the vehicle he was driving belonged to his cousin.
Police checked the driver’s information for the man, who was later identified as Dennis Alexander.
Salisbury Police charged Alexander Wednesday with felony identity theft, felony maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for a controlled substance and simple possession of a controlled substances, also a felony.
The officer noted Alexander kept sticking his hands into his pants near his buttocks area. The officer asked him to step out of the vehicle, and several pills fell from Alexander’s pants leg. Officers took him to the hospital after he complained of chest pains. Hospital staff gave Alexander an X-ray and an enema and recovered more pills.
He remains in the Rowan County jail under and an additional $25,000 secured bond.
