Law enforcement charged two Salisbury men with breaking into a vehicle just a day after the victim reported items taken from her car.
The Salisbury Police charged both Justin Eugene Bell, 22, of the 400 block of Heilig Avenue, and Jake Thomas Ellenburg, also 22, of the 1500 block of South First Street, with felony breaking and entering motor vehicles and misdemeanor larceny.
The victim told police Tuesday her Toyota Corolla was parked at her Boyden Street home the night before around 9:15 p.m. and when she got up Tuesday morning to go to work she noticed items missing from her car. The vehicle was not locked. The items taken were a cell phone and prescription sunglasses. She told police a cell charger, gloves and other items were on the seat.
Warrants were served on Bell and Ellenburg, who were arrested and charged Wednesday.
Bell and Ellenburg were given a $2,500 secured bond and remain in the Rowan County Detention Center.
Bell has been convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possessing stolen goods and buying and possessing alcohol by someone under the age of 21, all of which are misdemeanors. Bell is expected in court next week regarding charges of felony forgery or endorsement and felony attempt to obtain a controlled substance by forgery or fraud.
Ellenburg has been convicted of felony drug possession, also larceny and unauthorized use of motor vehicle, both of which are misdemeanors.
