A Salisbury man was charged with marijuana possession following a weekend traffic stop at Statesville Boulevard and Colonial Drive.
Salisbury Police charged Somsavath Siharath, 48, of the 300 block of Home Road, with maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.
An officer noticed a vehicle driving left of center on Statesville Boulevard and smelled marijuana coming from the car once the vehicle was stopped. The driver, later identified as Siharath, admitted to having drugs in the vehicle. The officer searched the vehicle and found 4 ounces of marijuana inside.
Siharath was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1,000 bond, and has since been released.
