Desirae Maria Overcash, 21, of China Grove, graduated summa cum laude from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Saturday, May 11, 2013, with double major bachelor degrees in elementary and special education. She was one of only seven accepted into this first year program at UNCC.
Desirae graduated from South Rowan High school in 2009, where she was all conference and all county in softball and in golf.
Desirae finished her student teaching at North Rowan Elementary School in Spencer. She plans to seek employment and hopes to start teaching this August.
Desirae is the daughter of Dennis and Gwyn Overcash of China Grove.
