This week’s Athlete of the Week is Rowan Legion first baseman Chance Bowden. He helped Rowan wrap up the division title by coming up big in four wins last week.
In a 6-3 win over Southern Rowan, Bowden had a two-run double. He then led Rowan to a doubleheader sweep over Stanly. In a 9-8 Game 1 victory, he made two huge defensive plays. In a 9-1 Game 2 win, he went 5-for-7, at the plate, including a 3-run homer. In a 17-0 win over Concord, Bowden was 4-for-4 and knocked in six runs.
Entering the playoffs tonight, Bowden, a rising senior at Salisbury High, leads the team in doubles and RBI’s, while batting close to .500.
