The Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Matthew Holshouser was held Sunday, May 19, 2013, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Troop 333 Scoutmaster Michael Rowell made the presentation.
Also participating in the presentation was Matthew’s grandfather, Donald Holshouser, Scoutmaster of Troop 333 from 1957-1964.
Matthew is the troop’s Senior Patrol Leader and was honored as the 2012 Scout of the Year for the troop. He began his Scout career as a Tiger Cub at St. Matthew’s and has advanced through the ranks to earn his Eagle.
His Eagle project was adding wooden benches to the hiking trails at Rowan County’s Eagle Point Nature Preserve in eastern Rowan County. He coordinated fellow Scouts in the construction and placement of the benches and raised all the funding for the project.
The son of Michael and Sheila Holshouser of Salisbury, Matthew has two brothers, Wesley and Justin Holshouser.
