David and Mary Ann Nelson of Salisbury celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at noon on June 29, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Rhodes Woolly officiated. The couple were married at St. John’s on June 29, 1963, by the Rev. Terry Agner.
A luncheon followed the worship service in the fellowship hall. The meal was hosted by their sons and daughters-in-law, Vaughn and Eva Nelson of Salisbury and Ken-Erik and Erica Nelson of Indian Trail.s
The couple have four grandchildren, Erika, Davis, Dalton and Perry Nelson.
Dr. Nelson is St. John’s pastor for care and homebound ministry. Mary Ann is a former secretary for the North Carolina Synod and was also a teaching assistant with Rowan-Salisbury Schools.
