SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged 19-year-old Tyler Gorwin Brady with first-degree arson Sunday in connection to a house fire at 302 Fisherman’s Lane.
L.H. Eller of the Sheriff’s Office reported that Brady burnt the dwelling of Charles Cox. At the time of the early-morning fire Sunday, Bob Cox was in the house, reports filed with the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office said.
Brady, whose address was given as 1730 Liberty Road, was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $100,000 bond.
The Sheriff’s Office also charged Jonathan Mayers, 35, of 1180 Sleepy Hollow Road, Rockwell, with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, breaking into a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm and obtaining property by false pretense.
The incidents happened July 3. He was placed under $35,000 bond.
Mayers is accused of breaking into a 1998 Chevrolet Z71 and stealing a 12-gauge shotgun.
He later traded the shotgun for a .38-caliber handgun from Jimmy Cook of Rockwell, then he pawned the handgun for $175 at Rowan Gun and Pawn.
Reports said Mayers was not legally supposed to possess either gun because of his conviction in 1998 of possessing a weapon of mass destruction.

• Jordan Kirk Littleton, of 235 Ellis Road Loop, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He is accused of hitting Tracy Marcellus Clodfelter of Salisbury with a bat or stick as Clodfelter was riding on a motor scooter.
Littleton knocked the victim off the scooter while he was passing in a motor vehicle, reports said.
• Lawrence William Wilkerson IV, 32, of 613 Gold Hill Drive, was charged with fleeing to elude arrest after a traffic stop Saturday by Salisbury Police Officer R.K. Rule on Morlan Park Road.
Wilkerson was placed under $2,500 bond.
