A Rowan County woman already facing charges for multiple car and vehicle break-ins is now accused of stealing a car.
Haley Nicole Dial, 21, and a man believed to be her boyfriend, John Christopher Meece, 21, are charged with taking a vehicle from a Shue Road shop in June. The two were located in Tennessee with the stolen car by law enforcement officials. Both are charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Meece is also charged with felony larceny.
A Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputy was contacted June 12 by the owner of the vehicle, Hugo Mejia, who told him he parked the vehicle in the driveway of a shop with the keys still in the ignition switch. The vehicle was last seen at the shop the day before. Mejia told the deputy Dial contacted him saying she “missed court” and “wanted money to leave town.” Mejia said he believed Dial and her boyfriend took the car.
On June 19, officials with Alcoa Tennessee Police Department had information that Dial and Meece were at a Tennessee motel. Dial and Meece are now in the Rowan County Detention Center. Dial was held under a $25,000 secured bond, bringing her total bond to $53,000 for other charges including failing to appear in court. Meece is being held under a $25,000 secured bond.
Dial was charged in April for her alleged involvement in a theft ring where she and her then-boyfriend, Jeremy Motley, Adolphus Bolen and Michael Upright were accused of taking items from a number of homes and vehicles, including jewelry, guns, construction equipment and computers.
