SPENCER — Jeff Morris says he’s running for his fourth term on the Spencer Board of Aldermen because communication among board members and town staff has improved.
Morris said he’s motivated to “continue the forward progress.”
“Our diverse town is moving forward as the elected officials, town employees and citizens at large cooperate on projects such as Small Town Main Street and Spencer Woods park,” said Morris, 52.
Those projects have brought people throughout the community together with a common purpose and goals, he said.
“I would like to continue to be part of this progress, to improve the quality of life for Spencer residents and build on the growing renewal of pride in our hometown,” Morris said.
An attorney, Morris earned a bachelor’s degree from Catawba College and juris doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law. He worked for 10 years as a construction supervisor for Food Lion.
Morris is the town attorney for Cooleemee and East Spencer. He is chairman of the Rowan County Board of Adjustment and Rowan County Community Child Protection Team and past chair of the Rowan County Board of Social Services. Morris received the 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award for working with at-risk populations.
All Spencer aldermen are running for re-election. They face two challengers.
