Rowan detectives and fire investigators are looking into a suspicious early morning house fire that temporarily trapped the homeowner.
Firefighters with Miller’s Ferry, Rockwell Rural and Salisbury City Fire departments responded to 5555 Wildwood Road, Salisbury, at 1:30 a.m. Friday where the homeowner, Donna Jackson, was inside.
Deborah Horne, a fire investigator with the Rowan County Fire Marshal’s Office, said Jackson was able to get out at the last minute.
“We are looking into a possible intentionally set fire,” Horne said.
Jackson was not injured, but the house was destroyed, Horne said.
Fire investigators collected evidence and are working with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, she said.
Rowan Rescue Squad also responded to the scene. Attempts to reach Jackson were unsuccessful.
