Area authorities have added charges for a Florida woman they say was involved in numerous vehicle break-ins in Rowan and multiple surrounding counties.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Mooresville Police departments charged Jorane Desilus, 19, of Deerfield, Fla., with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle (Charlotte-Mecklenburg), felony obtaining property by false pretenses (Mooresville) and felony identity theft (Mooresville).
Rowan County investigators said Desilus and Keith Lashun Taylor, 27, also of Florida, were responsible for dozens of vehicle break-ins at Dan Nicholas Park in July.
Desilus remains in the Rowan County jail under a $1.17 million secured bond. Taylor remains in the jail under a $590,000 secured bond.
The two were involved in a vehicle chase in late August that began in Mooresville with the police there. Rowan authorities assisted in the chase, which ended near China Grove. Desilus and Taylor were arrested following the chase. Investigators say some of the items that were stolen were found in the vehicle officials were pursuing.
The latest arrest warrants say on July 14 Desilus tried to use a stolen credit card at a Mooresville CVS to purchase a $510 gift card.
In November 2012, the two, along with others, were charged with breaking into vehicles in Florida.
