Rockwell man jailed under $100,000 bond, accused of setting fire to house occupied by women, child

ROCKWELL — Two women and a five-year-old girl escaped after authorities say a Rockwell man set fire to a house while they were inside.
Joshua Zachary Russell, 22, of Wind Swept Way, is in jail under $100,000, charged with first-degree arson after authorities say he burned a home Sept. 1 occupied by the women and child, who is the daughter of one of the adults.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Russell set fire to the home, which is also located on Wind Swept Way.
He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
SALISBURY — A Salisbury teenager is in jail under $125,000 bond after police say he used a gun to rob one victim and assault another.
Gage Allen Woodward, 17, of Hurley School Road, is charged with robbery with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.
Salisbury Police said the incidents happened Sept. 7 through Sept. 10. Arrested Friday, Woodard is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
