A 19-year-old man shot to death this afternoon and police are searching two suspects.
Salisbury Police identified the victim as Abraham Jenkins.
Neighbors, none of whom would give their names, said they saw two men chasing Jenkins at the intersection of West Horah and Institute streets about 2:50 p.m. Then they heard gunshots.
Neighbors said they heard one shot, followed by four or five more.
Jenkins died in a driveway at 1001 Institute Street.
Police could not give descriptions for the gunmen. They fled on foot.
The shooting prompted a lockdown at the nearby Livingstone College. Entrances and exits were shut and students, staff and employees were staying in their buildings.
Police don’t believe Jenkins was a student, though it has not been confirmed.
About 1,100 students attend Livingstone, most of whom live on campus.
