Salisbury man riding with suspect in teen shooting charged with drug possession

Salisbury Police say shortly after their investigation into the shooting death of Abraham Jenkins began, they charged a Salisbury man who was riding with the shooting suspect with drug possession.
Romielo Isaiah Cowan, 18, of West Monroe Street, who authorities say is not charged in connection with the shooting that occurred at West Horah and Institute streets, was charged with drug possession.
Cowan was charged Monday with felony possession of crack cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor resist, delay, obstruct an officer.
Authorities said Andre Bognuda, 22, of East Fisher Street, was a passenger in the vehicle. Bognuda was also charged with misdemeanor resist, delay, obstruct an officer. Bognuda was later charged with the murder of Abraham Iman Jenkins, 19.
Jenkins was shot and killed not far from the boarding house where he was a resident at 916 West Horah St.
Cowan was arrested during a vehicle stop at 36 Knox St. and ran from the vehicle, a report said.
The shooting occurred around 2:50 p.m. The two men were stopped and arrested nearly an hour later.
Police say once they caught Cowan, he was searched and the drugs were found inside his sock.
Officers found a plastic bag with smaller bags inside that contained 4 grams of marijuana and 1 gram of crack cocaine.
