Here are 5 stories you missed last week if you didn’t read the Salisbury Post:

Family business

Three generations of the Goodman family have run Goodman Farm Supply in China Grove for the past 50 years. While many things around them change, they make sure a lot of things at the store stay the same.

Gunned down

Abraham Jenkins was on the phone with his new girlfriend when something went wrong. She heard arguing, then gunshots. Residents in Jenkins’ neighborhood saw him running, pursued by two men. He died on a sidewalk. Friends and family remembered the 19-year-old as polite, hardworking and churchgoing.

Prayer rally

More than 1,000 people responded to Return America’s call to rally at the Rowan County government building Monday in support of county commissioners’ right to pray in Jesus name before meetings. Filling the sidewalks along West Innes Street, they sang, prayed and cheered.

Censured?

Four Rowan County commissioners say they want to investigate allegations that fellow Commissioner Jon Barber used county resources to make copies for his business. After investigating, the other board members could censure Barber, a formal expression of disapproval. Barber contends other commissioners really want to punish him for expressing views to the press and in public forums that don’t agree with the board’s controlling majority.

Game day eats
