SPENCER — The Rowan County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor an election forum for candidates for the Spencer Board of Aldermen.
The event is set for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Spencer Fire Department, 208 S. Salisbury Ave. in Spencer.
The forum will include eight candidates running for six seats on the Board of Aldermen, as well as Mayor Jody Everhart, who is running unopposed.
Incumbents are Jim Gobbel, Jeff Morris, Scott Benfield, David H. Smith, Kevin Jones and Reid Walters. Challengers are Mike Boone and Rashid Muhammad.
Mark Lewis, a chamber member and president of Downtown Salisbury Inc., will serve as moderator. Chamber President Elaine Spalding will serve as timekeeper.
The event is free and open to the public.
