Authorities charged two teens with spray painting gang graffiti on a local business after police found spray paint in their possession.
Officials said that one of the suspects had spray paint on their hands and in a back pack.
Salisbury Police charged Steven Luan Dinh, 17, of the 200 block of Kelly Drive, Salisbury with vandalism to real property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
Dinh remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
Officials also charged David Perez, 17, of the 200 block of American Drive, Salisbury with vandalism to real property, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear, all misdemeanors.
Perez remains in the county jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
A police officer who was on patrol early Sunday morning in the 500 block of South Main Street when he received information about a vandalism that already occurred. Someone had painted the words SUR 13 on a garage door at the location.
The description of the suspects was given and the officer found Perez and Dinh riding bicycles in the area shortly before 4 a.m.
The officer noted in his report he could smell the spray paint fumes coming from the two, who told the officer they were in the area just riding their bikes.
Perez had rolling papers in his pocket and two cans of black spray paint as well as paint on his hands.
Dinh had marijuana inside his sock and rolling papers.
