Two people were charged over the weekend in connection with a fight a few days earlier at a Sunset Drive apartment. The victim jumped from a second-floor balcony, a Salisbury Police Department report said.
Jerome Van Collins Jr., 27, of the 200 block of W. Geroid Street, is charged with felony assault by strangulation. Authorities say his girlfriend, Mechelle Maricunna Glenn, 24, of the 600 block of North Fulton Street, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault.
Police responded to the apartment overnight Oct. 29 after Jeanisha Vaughn, the victim, said she’d gotten into an argument with her roommate. Collins and Glenn were visitors at her apartment.
A report said Glenn pushed Vaughn and began punching her and pulling Vaughn’s hair. The roommate tried to step in to assist. The report said Collins grabbed Vaughn and began choking her while Glenn continued to punch Vaughn.
Vaughn jumped from the balcony, the report said.
It is not clear today if Vaughn sustained any serious injuries.
In mid-October, Glenn was charged after authorities said she threw bleach into the face of a woman who was trying to break up a fight. The victim in that incident was treated and released from the hospital.
