CHINA GROVE — Praise and worship at the Southside Church of God will be unique Sunday as Handprints Ministries, under the direction of Cindy Cozad, leads the 11 a.m. worship service.
Handprints Ministries is a non-profit Christian organization with the goal to bridge the gap for Jesus between the deaf and hearing worlds.

The church women will honor eight ordained ministers who are members of First United Church of Christ, 207 West Horah St., during the 11 a.m. worship service.
The ministers have a total of 284 years of dedicated service to the church.
Those being honored include the Rev. Guy Fisher, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Clapp, the Rev. Gary Hauze, the Rev. Marcella Morton, the Rev. Don Scott, the Rev. Larry Walser, the Rev. James Cook and the Rev. Carol Hallman.
Prior to the benediction, a congregational meeting will be held to vote on the 2014 church budget.

ROCKWELL — “Mission Trip…India” will be the theme of the Women’s Thankoffering Service set for 11 a.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran, 2070 Emanuel Church Road.
The Immanuel Lutheran Women will lead the service with guest speaker Paula Lewis, a retired vice-president of nursing from a California medical facility.
She has traveled to India on several mission trips to educate children about hygiene and to assist with medical needs.
Two of these mission trips were implemented by programs sponsored by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
During the service, Christy Trexler will perform music titled “Written in Red,” and Carolyn Trexler will present the children’s sermon, “Reaching Out to Others.”
A Thankoffering will be received for the Rowan Family Crisis Council.
Helen Weddington, a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Women, is an ambassador for the Crisis Council and has created a painting that the Council has used on notecards sold to raise awareness and to generate additional funds.

The Rev. Barbara J. Barbour, a retired minister of the AME Church and an assisting minister at Jerusalem Baptist Church, will be bringing the message.
Barbour, a native of Rowan County, graduated from Dunbar High School in East Spencer.
She received a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University and a master’s in theological studies from Houston Graduate School of Theology.

Music will include both original and well-known pieces.
The concert, titled “A Classical Night at the Movies,” will feature music from the silent movie era along with works by Debussy, Joplin, Gershwin and more.
